2.2.1. Welcome Window

A translucent window remains in the mid-left area of the screen. When the player first enters this screen, the Welcome window will appear with "some snazzy animation", preferably Macromedia Flash-based.

Once the player's profile has been created, the player is able to choose an option from the list. This gives him one-click access to certain parts of the game, i.e.

WELCOME TO 0 A.D.

<PlayerName>, what would you like to conquer today?

* "I am new to 0 A.D." "Let's play the learning campaign." * "I want to get straight into action." "Let's start a game against the computer." * "Time for an Ancient @#$%-Whooping!" "I want to play against human opponents over a network." * "Time to Kick @#$% from Afar!" "I want to play against human opponents over the Internet." * "I want to tinker." "Take me to the Options menu." * "I want to create worlds." "Take me to the Scenario Editor."

The composition and order of the Welcome window should be dynamic; the option most frequently chosen by the player should be first in the list, with the most rarely chosen options at the end of the list (accessible through the "More..." option for the second page).

See example here.
