  • Activate a special pathfinding / unit AI script ... The entity will automatically explore new territory (prioritising nearest SoD, then FoW) using an efficient path.
  • Ability of Citizen Soldiers.

This would be a very convenient gameplay feature and I think the staff would agree with me in wanting to see this before beta.

I agree that it would be convenient. I think the whole idea is to make this not too clever so player scouting would be slightly better.

On the way it'd work I see four main steps: -Discover the player surroundings -Discover the location of the enemy/enemies -Scout the map -Keep Scoutin'

I think we can assume the player doesn't want the scout to die so it should probably try to keep away from enemie' bases unless in "discover enemy base" phase.

I don't like how this feature is described there, it should work something like wraitii describes above or even simpler. RoN has automatic scouting (and various other automatic behaviors which are quite nice compared to the AoE series) and I have no problem with how it's implemented.

I am wondering whether this feature is really necessary. I mean you can command a scouting path in 2 seconds using shift, minimap and defensive(?) stance.
