I think it would be nice to have a grid while building and the option for buildings to "stick" to this grid.

An option to change grid size would be cool.

This would allow players to place buildings on a more precise way.

I understand that buildings size is very varied and there's also round buildings like the ones from Britons and this feature may be a challenge or not worth it.

I'm missing such a feature, too. AFAIK buildings are not designed to fit into a grid, so this is troublesome. There is some existing grid (e.g. a giant map has 512 x 512 tiles) which perhaps could be used. Custom grid size sounds complicated to me. I'm no dev however...

Being able to place buildings freely (and being able to rotate them) is one of the main features of the game. It would have been way easier to make all buildings aligned to a square grid, and let units occupy one tile. But this allows for much nicer layouts IMO.

I can see snapping would be handy with walls, though there are other solutions for that (like allowing a small overlay of obstructions). Other buildings shouldn't snap though. You should use walls to create a wall, not houses.

So I don't see a benefit for this restriction.

r23330 has added snapping to obstruction edges, which is not a grid, but seems like the grid itself is won't fix?
