#4374 new defect

"Disable Treasures" option should be disabled for maps without preset treasures

Description

Currently, the "Disable Treasures" map option is useless on a lot of maps which do not provide any treasures. Additionally, on "Survival of the Fittest" the option is misleading. "Disabling treasures" still allows treasures spawned by triggers.

It would be nice to allow the option only for maps with preset (not trigger spawned) treasures. Otherwise the option should be greyed out.

Ah, this ticket went past me. Shouldn't we disable spawning of treasures in trigger scripts if treasures are disabled?

I was just thinking that this could totally destroy gameplay on special maps like Survival of the Fittest. Alternatively, would it be possible to define in the random map script or Atlas, if it is possible to use the treasure option?

The maps (JSON files for random ones, XML for skirmish/scenario ones) could indeed define whether to disable some options, requires someone to finish one gamestup rewrite and rewrite further afterwards.

I prefer if players can chose settings as freely as possible though. Survival of the fittest can be played without treasure if the starting resources are increased for example. It could even be played on low resources, as the last remaining player is still the fittest and thus the winner of the party.

I have no strong opinion on that. Since I have no time to work on this anyway, I propose to close this ticket as duplicate.

Move tickets to Game Setup as UI & Simulation got some sub components.
