    initial v1  
    11r20945 introduced a sliding setting panel to gamesetup. To hide the settings during the animation, the background was "re-added" on top of the settings. Probably never was a "hack-free" solution.

    55I presume a solution would be to add a "viewed area" property on gui elements. This could then hide the settings panel, where we don't want it. Probably related to scrolling.
