Experience trickle was added with changeset [23541] (21/Mar/20), since then units garrisoned in barracks get 1XP/sec. Most players are not aware of this feature. It would be a good addition if there would be an animation above the building when units gain experience points, it could look like in the GIF below, once all units are ranked the animation would stop.
This issue was also discussed on Phab:D3994 - Expand Experience trickle to stables and elephant stables (20/May/21).

Decreasing the GIF size a bit, 800px was too large.
