Ticket #6388 – Description
v4 v5 5 5 Utilisation of "MSIX" would allow installation to be much more easy for users of "Windows 7" and "Windows 8.1" – because of "http://docs.microsoft.com/windows/msix/msix-core/msixcore" – and for "Windows 10" and "Windows 11" because of their native support of it. 6 6 7 I have only installed "0.A.D" via "GNU Software" and "Linux"-based operating-systems, so my knowledge of how "0.A.D" has been designed to update for users of Windowsis not great. However, I am doubtful that it is by executing the binary (".EXE") installer for every improvement. Consequently, utilisation of "MSIX" would also allow installation by pseudo-package-managers that are smiliar to "http://github.com/microsoft/winget-cli" to install packages without the possibility of corruption that execution of 1 installer every time that the package is being replaced for improvement is able to cause.7 I have only installed "0.A.D" via "GNU Software" and "Linux"-based operating-systems, so my knowledge of how "0.A.D" has been designed to update for users of "Windows" is not great.
