     1List: Maps: Types: Temperate
     2
     33.2. Temperate
     4
5* Region: Europe north of the Alps. Ranging from the Urals west to the British Isles and on down into northern 4/5th of France and the northwest portion of coastal Spain.
     6
     7* Characteristics:
8- On the wet side with rolling hills, knobs, and plains with mixed conifer/deciduous broad-leafed forest.
9- May be heavily forested or open.
10- Marshlands on more open plains near watercourses or coastal Netherlands.
11- May snow in winter; rains periodically at all other seasons of the year.
12- Can have large rivers and some lakes.
13- Can have some cliffs intersecting ranges of hills permitting the passage of rivers through cuts.
14- Temperate may be heavy in wood and animals but is otherwise normally endowed with stone and ore.
15- It is usually a reasonably good defensive map.
16- This map also makes for an excellent watermap for such as coastal, continental, and islands type maps.
     17
     18* Typical Temperate type variations:
19*Fortress Eire & Albion (fortresses are sited atop mounds, access is normally open)
20*Fortress Cantabrian Highlands (fortresses are sited atop hilltop heights, access may be reduced somewhat by adjacent forest on slopes)
     21*Fortress (any)
     22*Nomadic
     23*Herocide
     24
     25* Packeting Parameters:

     107* Temperate Land types:
     1083.2.1. Cantabrian Highlands
     109
     110Detail View
111- Characterised by mid to relatively high hill lands.
112- Many heights have non-forested buildable space at their tops.
113- Some valleys also good for building.
     114- Well wooded and watered
     115- Other resources good.
116- Watercourses periodically shallowed or have rocky fords.
117- Civ Territories are divided as appropriate to the map.
     1183.2.2. Ardennes Forest
     119
120- Similar to Black Forest in AoK.
     121- Densely forested.
122- Variable-sized pocket clearings and narrow passages hugely over-endowed with Wood.
     123- Other resources normal.
124- Civ Territories are divided as appropriate to the map via passageways through forested area.
     1253.2.3. Lorraine Plain
     126
127- Cut through the centre by the Loire River traversing east-west with some shallows.
128- Fairly open-wooded and basically flat
     129- Plenty of building room.
     130- Well balanced resources.
131- Civ Territories are divided by main river and tributaries (with necessary shallows for crossings).
     132
     133* Temperate Water types:
     1343.2.4. Eire & Albion
     135
     136- Islands type map.
137- Two main islands oriented north-south but east and west of one another, one slightly smaller than the other.
138- Coastlines typically have a lot of cliffs with occasional breaks in them that may or may not be at river mouths.
139- Some smaller islands spotted in the channel between and to the east and north.
     140- Nicely balanced for resources.
141- Civ Territories are allocated commensurate to space on the two larger islands.
     1423.2.5. English Channel
     143
144- Albion and Gaul juxtaposed across the English Channel.
145- Coastlines typically have a lot of cliffs with occasional breaks in them that may or may not be at river mouths.
146- Civ Territories are divided between one landmass and the other with north-south separation provided by watercourses on land with occasional shallows.
147- Civ Territories divided by water features as appropriate.
     1483.2.6. Rhine Marshlands
     149
     150- The Netherlands.
151- Generally on an east-west orientation.
152- The map has many shallows crossing marshes and limited building space.
153- Open ocean lies to the west.
154- There are few beaches with adjacent land where ports can be developed.
155- Is a hard map to defend on so strategy must be aggressive.
156- Civ Territories are divided as appropriate to the map.
