2.2. Main Menu Layout

The backdrop depicts the interior of a Roman commander's tent. Our intention is to convey the atmosphere that the player is commanding an ancient military campaign. A pre-rendered parchment map dominates the menu screen background.

Rollover text will appear to the right of the large 0 A.D. logo, describing the highlighted menu option. A semi-transparent dark box of dynamic size will also appear below such messages, to make the text clearly visible.

The opening theme that plays at the Main Menu should be catchy, memorable, and have a distinct melody that people will come to associate with the game.

2.2.2. Logos

Three images overwrite the background:

  • The WildFire Games logo in the bottom left corner. Click it to view legal/copyright information.
  • The 0 A.D. logo in the top mid-left, with build and language version information below.

2.2.3. Sketch Icons

Hovering the cursor over any icon on the main menu's map (or the exit button) will cause the icon to illuminate.

To access the appropriate game option, click the icon, or press the appropriate hotkey.
