Altitude bonus does not affect vision range

I'm not even sure this should be implemented. Vision doesn't depend on altitude, it depends on obstructions (i.e. I can see the valley from the mountain, but I can also see the mountain from the valley). And calculating obstructions for vision would be very costly (so cause more lag).
But there are some RTS where the vision is determined by obstruction. I think it's the case in Warzone. How do they do ?
