#3714 closed defect (needsinfo)

Errors used to scroll/disappear, now they last the entire game

Description

We all know the game is in Alpha stage, so players expect errors to show up sometimes in the upper left corner of the display. But in previous versions the errors would scroll and eventually they would disappear. It was like they timed out. At least I think that's what I remember. Currently, in Alpha 19, it's very common that somewhere in the middle of the game I will have about 20-30 lines of error messages at upper left and they never disappear. They stay there until the game is over, making it difficult to see my hero character's icon or any other information that is located there.

Can you please paste here the errors you get?

To me it rather sounds like you get the same set of errors every turn. Presumably if that error has the correct number of lines, they could appear in the exact same place as before (i.e. only looks like it doesn't scroll).

Can you upload a commands.txt (replay file) of a game with these errors?

Thank you. I will record my next few games to provide commands.txt for this and my other new tickets.

The errors even stay on the display after the match is over, after I have reviewed the final statistics windows and closed them, even when I'm back on the game's welcome screen at the starting menu. I have been conditioned to just ignore the errors but they often make it impossible to read the final statistics after the match is over.

We got no other reports of timer-related problems as in #3713, #3714, #3715. The related functions have not been changed. Likely something messed up with either your operating system or the installation.

Thank you. I must apologize for not updating these reports. I agreed with the suspicion that all three were linked, and it was strange enough to make me suspect my installation as well. So in January I reinstalled and none of the three issues have repeated.

Note: See TracTickets for help on using tickets.
