Cursor behavior is broken when starting 0 A.D. in a separate X server

I ran 0 A.D. with the following command in a tty:

xinit 0ad -- :1 vt$XDG_VTNR

or, equivalently

xinit xterm -- :1 vt$XDG_VTNR 0ad

I start a new skirmish. What happens:

  1. moving the cursor to the edge of the screen doesn't scroll the map
  2. one can click on the unit, and it gives a sound, but the UI doesn't change
  3. one can right click on the destination, the unit gives a sound, but the UI doesn't change at all.
  4. after exiting the game in the second approach, one can't get focus inside xterm

For me, Debian 11, NVidia graphics card, at r25848 it doesn't show 0 A.D. at all.

The first approach works for me with a26.
