Mac multiplayer: 2nd player can't right click when joining game

0ad (Alpha 23) is installed and working on two Macs (macOS 10.14.6)

1. I host a multiplayer game on one of them and join the game from the second mac.

2. The host player operates normally, but the joining player's right-click doesn't work. They can select units with left click, but right-clicking (on a tree, say), does nothing.

Notes:

• Right clicking is working on the same computer outside 0ad including while the issue is happening in 0ad.
• This happens whichever computer is hosting: the host player works fine, but the joining player cannot do a right click action in 0ad.
• Both computers can right-click normally when playing in single player.

I realised this is because I need to change from 'Observer' mode by selecting a player at the top of the screen after joining.
