No Sound Device found

When starting the game for the first time after turning computer on, there is no sound and a message "no sound device found". I have to Alt-F4 and restart the game, and then it works. I'm running Ubuntu 22.04 This is a new issue, since a few days.

Does sound appear in other applications? What would happen if you'd wait some time after the computer is on? Will sound appear from the first run?

Hello, I have sound in all other applications on this computer under UBUNTU 22.04 I set the computer on in the morning and sometimes wait till the afternoon to play, it's always without sound on the first run. I have to shut it down and restart, after what it always runs with sound. It is also impossible to get a screenshot, the game just crashes. 0.534 Warning: no sound device was found. I also installed the game on a windows computer, where it runs without sound problem.

We use OpenAL to play sounds. Maybe it fails to interact with your drivers? Are they up-to-date?

Do you have by a chance another game that uses OpenAL, like SuperTuxKart, Spring RTS or Warzone 2100?

What if it run the game with parameter -nosound for the first time?

It is also impossible to get a screenshot, the game just crashes.

Does it crash only for the first time or always? Could you attach mainlog and crashlog after the crash?

I think there is a low chance that the language affects the audio.

I just updated the whole system -- Problem still there

I have OpenTTD game on that computer, works fine. No other game there, except standard card solitaire.

I removed the game and reinstalled it (using the ubuntu wallet), problem still there.

I launch the game from the icon on the launchpad, what is the command-line to launch the game ?

I removed the game using the ubuntu wallet and reinstalled it by command-line with sudo add-apt-repository ppa:wfg/0ad sudo apt-get update sudo apt-get install 0ad

This solved the problem. It seems like the copy in the ubuntu repository (used by the wallet) is bad.
