I fixed the problem. default version when installed from 0ad website is alpha 0.25 on linux ubuntu and the default version installed on windows 10 is alpha 0.26. I did not find how to upgrade 0.25 to 0.26 on linux, so i downgrade my version 0.26 to 0.25 on my windows 10.

Comment from new OAD user: i can't find on OAD website an access to different releases to download the alpha 0.25 for windows. I have to download it from internet archive. If you follow the instruction on the 0ad website for windows and for linux, you end up with two different version incompatible for multiplayer mode. Little bit frustrating for "multiplatform" game.

Old releases of 0ad are available at https://releases.wildfiregames.com.

If your distro of Linux doesn't have version 0.0.26 available then, since you're running Ubuntu or a derivative of Ubuntu, you can upgrade the distro or install the WFG-provided PPA for 0ad.

Alternatively, you can install it as a Snap, AppImage, or FlatPak.

Local LAN games don't verify that mods and game version are compatible between server and client(s) before attempting to join, and then unexpected results may occur. As a result, it's necessary for the users to ensure that they're using identical versions and sets of mods.

The multiplayer lobby does verify these things and will prevent incompatible combinations of network peers.
