The game doesn't yet support translation (and it will probably be a while yet as we want to prioritize gameplay features + it's not much use to start translating the game before the English text has reached a more stable state). That doesn't mean that the game shouldn't support umlauts, just that it isn't a priority right now, so I'm moving it to the "Backlog" milestone (which simply means that it will be decided later when it will be implemented).
