Directly in the game: Menu > Load (game) is missing. Maybe a question before loading a game to save the current game would be nice.

Why would you want to do that? You also can't start a new game from an existing game, that's why we have the main menu page.

Following scenario:

Playing against computer: 1) saving before making a important choice like attack 2) attack 3) leave the game, and clicking through the summary 4) load the game again

with a load button directly in the game:

1) saving before making a important choice like attack 2) attack 3) load the game again

So it is faster while playing against computer.
