Description

I have a game whivh has reached a a state where, when I produce Spartiates, they momentarily appear (making their entrance sound) and then vanish.

It looks like my population number is incremented, but I can't find those units anywhere.

What can I do to help with diagnostics?

Sorry, I'm new to this codebase; you'll need to be more specific. Is a replay the same as a save file? Where do I find these? I see there's a .config/0ad directory; is it under logs/? If so, which one?

Enter the replay menu, select it and the filename will be shown. Only need the commands.txt of that directory

Also @wiki GameDataPaths

and at which time of the replay is the population counter increased where you can't find the spawned units?

Replay wasn't quite working for me, but looks like you had the town bell active, in which case new women are garrisoned in the town center. (That behavior's changed in A23.)

OK, that woulsd explain it. Is the alert bell behavior documented anywhere? And how do I get them out of garrison?

I don't seem to be able to put units in garrison when I want to. Select units, followed by g, followed by shift-right-click on the building - is that correct?

To garrison you can hold control and right click on a building. There's also an icon in the center panel that will do this (hover over them to see which one).

To ungarrison you hit 'u' while having the building selected. Again there's an icon in the center panel that will do this.

You might try playing the tutorial under "learn to play" on the main screen, it might have stuff about garrisoning (or might not, I don't remember).

For the town bell/alert, it's different in A22 and A23 but the general idea is when you click "raise alert" some units will garrison and when you click "end alert" the units will ungarrison and return to work.

Alas, the tutorial does not explain garrisoning. The alert bell isn't explained anywhere that I can see - I had to guess that it might be useful. Thanks for your help.

It's probably not news to you that the game documentation is scanty and not very good. Improving it would reduce the incidence of tickets like this one.
