Specifically which versions of the game were OK? We're still in alpha, the latest release was Alpha 7. If it was OK in the previous Alpha 6, then I would say we should take a look at the changes from [9814].

I tried many revisions, back to [8500] (Alpha 2), but the problem is there also. I will keep trying with older revisions, but i have had a lot of problems building earlier revisions.
I tested it in Atlas. Without buildings/units everything is ok.

I have past the revisoion that worked earlier, and still no dice. I tried a fresh(er) Ubuntu 11.4, but the shadows are the same. Last time when shadows were ok, I was using Ubuntu 10.10; previous release. So I tried Debian Squeeze, with some packages from Wheezy, and it works just fine.
Conclusion: The problem is with Ubuntu 11.4 Natty Narwhal

I get the same issue on Mint 11 with RV770 (Gallium 0.4 2.1, OpenGL Version Mesa 7.10.2) with the open source driver.

Installing newer version of drivers fixed the problem for me.
