Description (last modified by elexis)

Dear Sir/Madame

I have Xubuntu laptop (Core Duo 2, 2Gb ram) and worked perfectly with the previous version of 0ad (Osiris). Now that I have updated to Rhododactylos I have graphic issues. The menu visualisation and the map selection stage is faultless, but when I start the game it shows a blue screen with just a few graphic elements of the GUI. I can hear the sound of the game but I cannot see anything. What should I do?

Hi Geppetto, thanks for reporting.

This is most likely an issue with your system, and more specifically with OpenGL. Could you give us your system_info.txt file? You can find it here: GameDataPaths#Linux

Btw, there were two versions between Osiris and Rhododactylos (Patañjali and Quercus) so the number of changes that could have broken your setup is even larger.

Thank you for your answer! Please find attached text file.

Is there a chance I can play this game with the existent hardware?

Replying to Geppetto: Hi Geppeto, What shader option do you have? Could you disable glsl shader?

Thank you for your tip that I have followed, but there is more. First of all if I open 0AD and Firefox it really makes the whole pc incredibly slow. Secondly, even disabling all the graphic features it doesn't change anything. :(

It looks like a shader issue. Try disabling all the graphics features, saving, and restarting the game. However, looking at your system specs, I don't think that you'll be able to get playable performance even if it runs. Your graphics card is over 10 years old.

Here's are two low-cost Nvidia or AMD graphics cards that should run 0 A.D. if you'd like to upgrade.

Upgrading a laptop, Josh?

Whoops, I read the ticket a bit too quickly and the system_info.txt didn't mention that.

I also have a R300 class card on Ubuntu (actually a newer one, RV530) and it is OK. I suggest to upgrade to a recent Ubuntu and see if the issue is fixed with newer driver. If not, try using fixed renderpath as explained in Manual_Settings. Anyway I can confirm that either way you won't have an enjoying experience since that hardware is very old and slow.
